The present building was erected, according to the date on its exterior, in 1889. There is a chapel near Hyssington Marsh. There were only two charities: "Edward Stretford, in 1767, left £ 10, the interest to be distributed among the poor, and Dorothy Griffiths £ 5 for a like purpose; but the two sums were borrowed for repewing the church about 55 years ago, and the interest continued to be paid out of the Church Rates; but on their abolition the Charities were lost." S. Lewis in his Topography states that "about ten children are taught in a day school at their parents' expense." The old school was, I understand, below the church. The present school is situated at the upper end of the village. I finish this short account by quotino- in full 1 About 1790.
